You might find this surprising but, Halo was not originally a shooter game. Halo CE was created by Bungie and published and owned by Microsoft. Halo was the fastest-selling video game ever and held the record for biggest entertainment launch in history with $170 million on the market within the first 24 hours and $300 million in one week.

The plot for Halo started out much smaller than it is now. Halo was also supposed to have 25 levels, not 10. Halo was released on November 15, 2001.
